David Strauss serves as general counsel and secretary for The Weather Company, overseeing legal and compliance, including privacy and data governance. He also plays a critical role in guiding corporate strategy and business ethics.

David has more than 25 years of experience in advising management and boards across a number of well-respected technology companies in both public and private sectors, including private equity. Immediately before joining The Weather Company, he was the general counsel of FTD, the iconic floral and gifting B2C and B2B company. David has also been the general counsel for the marketing and automotive data businesses of Experian; Appriss, a SaaS and data company acquired by Equifax; and RiseKit, a venture-backed, mission-driven, employment technology company.

He received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin and his bachelor’s degree from Duke University. David resides in the Chicago area and is the proud “girl dad” to three daughters. In his free time, David exercises his creative impulses through writing, reading, and film/TV and exercises his body by traveling, hiking, and playing lots of pickleball. He is also an emeritus board member of Erasing the Distance, a non-profit arts organization that raises awareness of mental health issues through performance.
