As general manager of aviation and public sector weather systems at The Weather Company, Jay Humphlett leads the business units delivering advanced weather solutions to government agencies and aviation customers worldwide. In this role, he oversees the company’s high-impact, customer-led growth strategies across defense, intelligence, aviation, and public sector markets, and serves as a member of the executive leadership team. He is tasked with evolving operating models to scale advanced weather insights for high-stakes operational environments worldwide, including through its Dynamic Risk Operations Platform (DROP).

A senior operating executive with extensive experience bringing technology and innovation to public and private sector clients at scale, Jay specializes in business transformations for both emerging and established companies. His career began as a Naval Flight Officer flying F-14 Tomcats – completing two combat cruises in support of Operation Desert Storm and Southern Watch, and graduating from the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN). This deep understanding of mission-critical environments shapes his leadership style, giving him a distinct track record of guiding strong, engaged teams to accelerate revenue and profitability across SaaS, AI, systems integration, and special mission aviation markets. 

Jay’s career is defined by driving growth across complex, high-stakes sectors. Prior to joining The Weather Company, he served as president of public sector at Ethos, leading all aspects of their public sector go-to-market and mission success efforts. He was also the executive vice president of global public sector at Dataminr, where he served on the executive leadership team, and was employee #1 at Tadaweb’s U.S. subsidiary, building their infrastructure and customer success engines from the ground up. His extensive leadership background also includes holding executive P&L positions at Raytheon, serving as CEO of a global health protection provider, and working in venture capital.

A mission-driven leader, Jay remains an active industry contributor, currently serving as a strategic advisor for Sierra Nevada Corp., DroneShield (ASX: DRO), and The Chertoff Group. A father to two adult children, he lives in North Carolina with his wife, their two rescue dogs, and one rescue cat. He holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in electrical and biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University.
